When an ordinary WordPress plugin, template or WooCommerce setting cannot do what your business needs, the answer is not always another add-on. It may be a carefully scoped custom feature—or a simpler change to what you already have.
Daljit Singh of Khalsa Website Designers develops WordPress functionality, plugins and themes. We can assess custom workflows, ecommerce requirements, business-system integrations and AI chat assistants that answer using your approved information. We explain feasibility, dependencies, security responsibilities and post-launch maintenance before recommending an approach.
What can be developed or customized?
A useful specification begins with the action your visitor, employee or administrator needs to complete. The examples below describe the types of requirements we can assess; they are not claims that every integration or feature already exists as a packaged product.
Custom WordPress plugins
Quotation calculators, conditional enquiry forms, approval workflows, restricted administrative tools and other business-specific features that need to work with your existing site.
We assess WordPress hooks, roles, data storage and compatibility before choosing how the function should be implemented.
WooCommerce functionality
Custom product options, quote-before-purchase flows, order information, operational rules or suitable connections to approved external systems.
Payment, taxation, shipping and customer-data changes require extra testing and clearly defined responsibilities. If an existing store’s purchase flow is failing, start with our WooCommerce checkout troubleshooting service rather than assuming a new plugin is needed.
Custom themes and templates
Tailored WordPress layouts, reusable website components, responsive templates and features that should not require constant manual page editing.
Sometimes an existing theme or Elementor setup can be extended safely instead of creating an entirely new theme. If the site only needs broken responsive layouts corrected, see our Elementor layout repair service.
AI assistants using your knowledge
A website chatbot can be designed to answer questions from information you approve, such as FAQs, service descriptions, product documentation, policies and operating procedures.
It should identify unanswered questions, avoid inventing business facts and offer a clear route to a human.
Website and system connections
Where suitable APIs are available, discuss sending enquiries to a CRM, connecting business tools or presenting updated information from an authorised system.
Available access, vendor restrictions, rate limits, privacy and running costs determine what is practical.
Repair or extend existing features
An unreliable plugin or slow custom function may require diagnosis rather than a rebuild. We review the reported problem and the relevant dependencies before changing a live workflow.
For immediate diagnosis, see our separate website repair services.
Examples from software used on our own WordPress website
These are first-party examples of Khalsa-branded plugins installed on this website. Their purpose is to illustrate practical WordPress functionality, not to suggest every plugin is available for sale, was installed on a client’s site, or is appropriate for your business.
Review management
Khalsa Reviews Schema
A custom system for collecting and moderating customer feedback, assigning reviews to relevant pages and managing review data. Its design avoids claiming self-serving review stars in Google results.
Cache operations
Khalsa Cache Recovery
A plugin built around cache integration detection, operational queue status and Elementor CSS repair. It addresses a specific maintenance problem rather than adding visual effects.
Technical diagnostics
Khalsa Website Audit
A URL health checker with technical SEO, HTTP security, robots and DNS checks and a single-worker queue. See the website audit tool information for its intended use.
These plugin names and capabilities are based on the active WordPress installation. Business-critical custom features still need their own specification, testing and maintenance plan.
How a knowledge-based AI chatbot for WordPress would work
An AI website assistant should be more than an unrestricted chat box. For many businesses, the better design is to organise approved source information, retrieve what is relevant to a question and instruct the assistant to answer within that scope. This does not necessarily mean training or fine-tuning the underlying AI model.
Information and answer boundaries
The business decides which documents or website pages can be used. We can discuss updates, exclusions, source references where appropriate, unanswered-question handling and a human contact option. An assistant may still make mistakes, so answers need evaluation before and after launch.
Privacy, providers and operating costs
Personal information should be collected only when necessary and handled under an appropriate privacy policy. AI providers, hosting, usage limits, retention settings, security and API fees must be reviewed for the proposed setup. Sensitive or regulated advice needs special safeguards and may be unsuitable for automated answers.
How we scope a custom development project
Understand the required outcome
Explain the current obstacle, who uses the feature and what a successful result should look like.
Review existing tools first
Check your WordPress version, theme, plugins, hosting and integrations to avoid unnecessary duplication.
Agree on scope and ownership
Define features, access, business rules, required content, milestones, exclusions and ongoing responsibilities.
Build and test safely
Use a backup or staging approach when appropriate, validate input, enforce permissions and test the actual user journey.
Review and hand over
Check agreed desktop and mobile workflows, document the feature and explain the update and support requirements.
Maintain when needed
Plan compatibility checks for WordPress, WooCommerce, PHP, API changes and other dependencies as a separate support scope.
Have a difficult website problem that other developers have not resolved?
I’m Daljit Singh, founder of Khalsa Website Designers. I genuinely enjoy investigating website problems that do not have an obvious answer. If several fixes have already been tried and the issue keeps coming back, I would rather understand the underlying cause than offer another guess. Complicated challenges are the work I find especially interesting.
You do not need to know which plugin, server setting or line of code is responsible. Tell me what you are trying to do, what happens instead, when the problem started, where it occurs, who is affected and what has already been attempted. That gives us a better starting point than assuming the last visible error is the cause.
Problems I would like to investigate
Persistent WordPress PHP or plugin errors, WooCommerce payment and checkout failures, websites that work on one network but fail on another, and enquiries that never reach the inbox all need evidence-based investigation. For a broader starting point, see our website repair and remote troubleshooting services.
When a quick fix has not worked
Other challenging cases can involve Elementor layout conflicts, unexplained performance bottlenecks, technical SEO and indexing signals or post-migration failures. If the requirement is a new workflow rather than a fault, we can discuss custom development separately.
How would we approach a problem that seems impossible?
First, we agree on the affected website, the failing customer journey, access permissions and what evidence can safely be collected. Then we preserve the current state, isolate likely causes, test a proposed remedy where practical and check the original problem again. Sometimes a hosting provider, payment gateway, external developer or security specialist must be involved. Diagnosis may also show that a requested result is not technically or commercially feasible. I will explain those limits rather than promise an outcome before investigation.
Have an unresolved problem? Tell me about the website challenge, including your website URL, the exact symptom, when it began, and what others have already tried. Do not send passwords, payment details or sensitive customer data in the first enquiry. If you want to review how we document findings, see how we verify website work.
Questions to ask before ordering a custom website feature
Do I need a custom WordPress plugin or can an existing plugin be configured?
Not every feature needs custom code. We first consider whether a maintained plugin or a simpler configuration can satisfy the requirement without creating avoidable update and security responsibilities.
Can you add a feature to an existing WordPress website?
Often, but feasibility depends on the site’s access, current theme and plugins, hosting, external systems and the changes requested. An assessment is needed before confirming scope or timing.
Can an AI chatbot answer questions based only on my business information?
We can design a bounded, knowledge-based workflow using information you approve, but no generative AI model can guarantee perfect factual accuracy or zero out-of-scope answers. We discuss retrieval, testing, refusals and human handoff to reduce those risks.
How much does a custom plugin or AI chatbot cost?
There is no responsible flat price without understanding complexity, integrations, data protection, required testing, hosting and ongoing external service charges. A written specification helps determine a fair quotation.
Will the code continue working after WordPress or WooCommerce updates?
Compatibility cannot be guaranteed indefinitely. Well-scoped development follows current APIs and includes testing and update considerations. Maintenance arrangements should be agreed separately.
